Winona Ryder is Spock's Mom in 'Trek XI'

Winona Ryder has joined the cast of JJ Abrams's Star Trek XI, according to Variety.

Ryder will play Amanda Grayson, Spock's human mother in the Star Trek prequel, which hits theaters Christmas Day 2008. Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz) will play Scotty in the planned Star Trek prequel, according to Variety. The role of Montgomery "Scotty" Scott was originally played by the late James Doohan.
