Howdy Lovers of Geekiness and Doom,
Welcome to the first edition of what we've decided to call the "Doom Digest!"
We've been doing our best to keep you guys & gals up to date on all the goings-on at Geeks of Doom by posting snippets of each of our stories as they are published, but to be honest, we've begun to publish so many additional stories every day/week that it's become nigh impossible to keep up with the syndication of each and every one of them.
So in an effort to keep you all in our loop, as well as to lighten the load on both our end and yours, we'll be putting together this handy-dandy little digest of everything GEEK/DOOM a few times a week so that you'll not be missing out on all that geeky goodness. Now you'll not be bothered by the numerous email notifications when our blogs go live... otherwise the article below would have totaled 15 blog entries, heh.
I hope you all will continue to visit and enjoy Geeks of Doom, and I thank you all for being our friends, subscribers, and fans! I extend to you all my sincerest appreciation for your great comments, messages, and general good nature.
Sincerely,
Dave3 (webmaster--geeksofdoom.com)

Dan in Real Life
Directed by Peter Hedges
Starring Steve Carell, Juliette Binoche, Dane Cook, John Mahoney, Dianne Wiest
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
Release date: March 11, 2008
One need know me for roughly five minutes before they know full well my attitudes toward Dane Cook. Beyond mere distaste, I have a manic and psychotic hatred of him, sworn in blood and pain, that will no doubt span continents and generations and will cost more than its fair share of lives. I have alienated family members, ended friendships, and even had a girl walk out on me because of my raw and visceral loathing of the man and everything he stands for...continue reading this article at Geeks of Doom!

Imagine a rock band that changes members each time it begins achieving commercial and critical success.
Imagine a rock band guided by a visionary singer -- who can't actually articulate his vision to the other band members.
Imagine a rock band known as much for its logo and album cover designs as for its music.
Does this sound like a sequel to This is Spinal Tap? The basis of a new Will Ferrell movie? A Saturday Night Live skit that ends with Christopher Walken insisting on more cowbell?...continue reading this review at Geeks of Doom!

Written and illustrated by Andrew Dobson
Alterna Comics
Cover price: $9.95; Available Now
So imagine this: You fall from the sky smack down in the middle of an ocean, that's how it starts. You're then rescued by a girl, looks more or less your age, fair hair, has the whole survivor look going for her/against her (points of view I guess). There you are, soaked, on a boat with Jane Savage talking gibberish and with no clue where you are or how you got there. That's the plot of Formera...continue reading this review at Geeks of Doom!

Rated PG-13
Release date: Feb. 22, 2008
“Matthew Fox from ‘Lost?’ You know what's interesting about him? NOTHING!” -- Seth Rogan, Knocked Up
Well didn’t this weekend just suck monkey dick. My one computer crashed on Saturday and Sunday it manages to wipe out all of our shit, including my music. Also on Sunday, I was given the opportunity to see one of three films – Vantage Point, Semi-Pro, or Definitely, Maybe. Being that I had to review Vantage Point for Geeks of Doom and Semi-Pro for FilmArcade, I narrowed my choices down to those two. Since I was a week late with Vantage Point, I caught that one. And I can tell you right now that without seeing Semi-Pro whether or not I made a good choice...continue reading this review at Geeks of Doom!

As many know, Ellen Page was slated for the new Sam Raimi film Drag Me to Hell, but had to drop out due to some "schedule conflict." On the heels of the role that made her the super-talent that she'll be from now on with Juno, some feel that Page is being very cautious of her next role due to fears of following up an Oscar-worthy performance with a flop...continue reading this article at Geeks of Doom!

On this 10th anniversary of the release of The Coen Brothers film The Big Lebowski, here's a look at this awe-inspiring fan compendium that chronicles all things Dude.I'm A Lebowski, You're A Lebowski
By Bill Green, Ben Peskoe, Will Russell, Scott Shuffitt
Bloomsbury
Cover Price $15.95; Available Now
On the very first page, the Coen Brothers state "they neither have our blessing, or our curse" in the writing of this book. And so begins the awe-inspiring fan compendium, I'm a Lebowski, You're a Lebowski: Life, The Big Lebowski, and What-Have-You, that chronicles all things Dude. When The Big Lebowski hit theaters in 1998 (we're coming up on ten years here!) as the follow-up to the Coen's critically acclaimed Fargo, it performed less than modestly and quickly vanished from the theaters. But those who had seen it, and truly connected with what they saw on screen, coupled with multiple viewings on VHS and the then-dawning DVD format, quickly and quietly turned from fans to fanatics, as they memorized whole passages from the dialogue to recite and began to build their life around the key elements of the film, particularly taking on the qualities of The Dude...continue reading this review at Geeks of Doom!
