Last Spring I saw Michael White's Year Of The Dog. The film is not what I expected at all. May I just say that whoever marketed the film should have been fired. Relationship/date movie my ass. Come on folks, Year Of The Dog may be the best example I have seen of the effects of the suicidal blandness of the suburbs in some time. I am a child of suburbia and I have no problems with that, but I am not going to yank your chain. Diary of a Mad Housewife is the real deal. The Ice Storm is a documentary to me. I felt like I was watching a home movie when I dragged Phil Goldberg to go see that in 1997. Little Children was wishful thinking for me. I knew all too well, I wanted to say sure, that is about right. Tell me something I do not know, Todd Field. The Virgin Suicides was like watching a filmstrip of my youth via trips to the Aspen Hill Shopping Center during the 1970s. Sadly, there were no Libson Sisters for me to be friends with while growing up. In one way or another, all of these films hit a nerve. But you'd be wrong.
Aside from the fact that all 22 episodes are still hilarious on the second, third, and fourth viewing, this four-disc DVD set is packed with over three hours of deleted scenes. Now, I know what you're thinking: deleted scenes are deleted for a reason -- because they suck. Not so in this case. ALL of the deleted scenes are great and only serve as proof that The Office should be an hour-long show.

Disney and Spyglass Entertainment have recreated Underdog, the classic cartoon series from Saturday mornings about a loveable mutt, and expanded a vague, but interesting concept into a full-length feature. Talking dogs included.
An unnamed beagle (voiced by Jason Lee) is captured and locked away in the fortified laboratory used by Simon Barsinister (played by Peter Dinklage (1)) and his thesaurus-reliant henchman Cad (Patrick Warburton). The animal escapes near-tampering of his doggy DNA and begins running around the lab room at top speeds, ears a flapping. The chase comes to a halt when the beagle crashes into a shelf of glass beakers and unidentifiable liquids, spilling a monster Molotov cocktail over our friend’s fur, imbuing him with an encyclopedia of superpowers. The great tragedy of growing up in the 1970s and 1980s is that I did not know what an incredible actor Charles Bronson was when he made Death Wish back in 1974. In the early 1980s, I only knew him from his roles in the Death Wish films and his later films. Not all bad films by the way, not at all; Death Hunt with Lee Marvin is particular favorite of mine. Before Bronson took the role of Paul Kersey in the original Death Wish, he had already starred as one of the most iconic characters in cinema: Harmonica in Once Upon A Time In The West. Digging deep is essential and I dig deeper than I care to admit. Discovering his work in The Great Escape, Master Of The World, The Dirty Dozen, The Valachi Papers, The Magnificent Seven, Villa Rides, and Mr. Majestyk opened my eyes to his previous work. He was more than just a tool for Golan-Globus; he was so much more. Just look at his work in The Indian Runner for further proof. Bronson was always spot on, even in much of his lesser work. 100 Bullets remains one of the most intriguing and thought provoking series being published today. The series started as a simple morality play, but has transformed itself into a deep mystery series, with a heavy film noir feel. As new characters have been introduced the mystery of the series has gotten deeper and more intricate. The only problem is that the mystery has gone on for maybe too long, and the series may have gotten too far away from its initial premise.
