'Star Trek XI' New Official Site URL + Playmates 'Trek' Toys Confirmed

The official site for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek has been moved to a new location to www.StarTrekMovie.com. The site's design and content have remain unchanged.

Nimoy Reveals Three Spocks in 'Trek XI'

Trek Movie Report points us to two video clips from CBS 2 News's exclusive video interview with Leonard Nimoy, who reveals that there will be three Spocks in J.J. Abrams's Star Trek XI.

In a 15-minute Web exclusive video segment, which goes inside Nimoy's home and highlights his photography exhibit, Nimoy shows off a pair of Spock ears from 1968. I normally don't post rumors, because they usually turn out to be false, but every so often, one will pique my interest. At UGO.com, I found this one rumor particularly amusing because it links Star Trek with -- of all people -- Tyler Perry.

Back in the summer, I posted some assets for Perry's Why Did I Get Married? and not only did a few Doomers asked me why in hell I would do such a thing, but I really wondered to myself, Why the hell am I doing this? Winona Ryder has joined the cast of JJ Abrams's Star Trek XI, according to Variety.

Ryder will play Amanda Grayson, Spock's human mother in the Star Trek prequel, which hits theaters Christmas Day 2008. Clip: First Look at Nichelle Nichols in 'Heroes'

MySpace TV has another exclusive video for the NBC superhero drama Heroes.

The clip features the first look at Nichelle Nichols -- best known for her role as Uhura in the original Star Trek series -- in her new role as Nana, Monica’s grandmother from New Orleans (Monica is the new hero being played by Dana Davis).

Nature or Nurture: What Will Be Next For Star Trek?

The Star Trek franchise is in reasonable need of a reboot. One production team, headed by Rick Berman, has been responsible for all "official" Star Trek output on film and television since 1992. That team no longer has a Trek series in production and creative control of the next Trek film has been given to J.J. Abrams. To further emphasize the point, sets in use for decades on the Paramount backlot as "planet locations" have been struck. Long time Trek model and costume makers have been let go. Paramount even reached into its warehouses and auctioned off much of the memorabilia it accumulated over 40 years. The direct creative link reaching back from Berman, Leonard Nimoy, and Harve Bennett to Gene Roddenberry himself has been broken.
