Golden Globe 2007 Nominations

Atonement and Sweeney Todd lead their respective movie category nominations for the 65th Annual Golden Golden Awards, which were announced in Hollywood this morning.

Atonement tops the dramatic movie category with seven nominations, while Sweeney Todd leads the comedy/musical movie category with five nods.

The FX Network's new dramatic series Damages tops the television category with four nominations.

The Golden Globes will air live on Sunday, January 13, 2008 on NBC.

Interview: Noah Bean of 'Damages'

On behalf of Geeks of Doom, I recently participated in a press conference call with Noah Bean, star of FX’s new hit show Damages, a psychological thriller centered about a high-stakes litigation case. Bean's character is David Connor, the fiancé of Ellen Parsons, a junior associate at the law firm; he's also the brother of the firm's potential key witness in a case against a billionaire CEO. In the interview, Bean tells us about working with the show's star Glenn Close and gives his thoughts on his character's untimely demise, as well as drops a few hints as to what we can expect for his character in upcoming episodes.

High states litigator Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) is faced with a challenge in her case against Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson), a billionaire who allegedly cheated his employees out of their retirement funds. The judge presiding over the class-action civil case orders Patty to prove that she actually has a case by Friday or the suit gets dropped. Unfortunately, a package addressed to Patty arrives at her office with a grenade in it. Now, amongst a Federal investigation, Patty must rally her staff to participate in creating the brief to present to the judge. TV Review: Damages

Damages is half drama, half psychological thriller, and all eye-peeling entertainment. The cast, the direction, the writing, and the visuals sucked me in right away.

Glenn Close plays Patty Hewes, a remarkably successful civil litigation attorney. She is particular about everything in her law firm -- everything. She especially controls the people who work for her, even beyond the scope of their jobs. She never blinks early and has a legendary bull-o-meter. Rose Byrne is Ellen Parsons, Patty’s newest associate. She is just out of law school but she’s no rube. Ellen is smart, beautiful, and talented. Katie Conner, played by Anastasia Griffith, is Ellen’s older sister. With deep emotional ties to each other, Katie and Ellen’s lives find an unexpected and terrible connection.
