We all kind of have a secret love affair with tabloid press. We perch ourselves on one side or the other of the unspoken moral argument, but however you look at it, we’re all guilty. We’ve all read the stories or seen the headlines. I wouldn’t say most of us knowingly seek them out, but it’s almost impossible to avoid. Why would we? As sad a commentary as it is to say aloud, it’s free entertainment. Equally sad is the fact that it’s not entirely our fault. We really have nowhere to hide and we really have no choice. Over the past decade, tabloid press has risen from the seedy underbelly of journalism to the mainstream. You can barely pull up the front page of a news website, read the paper, or turn on the national news without the barrage of ‘now what happened?’ information being regurgitated onto us about the latest celebrity train wreck flavor of the week. As sensational as it is and as much as part of us wants to see them turn it all around, we keep reading out of sheer morbid curiosity. When we last left the show, Charlie (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Sweet Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito), or The Gang, were knuckle deep in varying levels of chicanery. No one gave a damn about anybody else (including each other), everyone was only looking out for themselves, and to hell with the consequences or anyone who got in the way of their harebrained schemes. Since then, not much has changed. Except maybe that they are now elbow deep in the same pile they had create for themselves. Dennis has, incredibly, found a way to increase the level of his own vanity to an almost criminal level. And most times as a result, Sweet Dee's self esteem couldn't be any lower (see what she does in "The Gang Solves the North Korean Situation" for a rival bar's microbrew recipe.) TV Preview: Bionic Woman (2007) Pilot

Are the Sci Fi Channel and its parent company NBC-Universal trying to drive me insane with its lack of logic? It cuts off Battlestar Galactica, moves it around on the schedule, and basically does anything to ruin the only good show on the Sci Fi schedule. They fill the schedule with mostly crap (have you seen the new Flash Gordon without rolling your eyes?) Then, NBC goes and poaches the concept (harsh new take on an 80's classic) along with a few of the actors from BSG, and does a fairly mediocre new show in the form of the revisioned Bionic Woman. And of course, we sci-fi genre fans eat it up because, what else is there? This is not to say that the new show is patently bad, it has several good points and several bad points. This episode of The History Channel's The Universe features a look at the distant past of the 3rd rock from the Sun, the planet we call Earth. After a brief, and frankly insulting to the viewers, catch-up of the most rudimentary and basic facts about Earth, the show takes a trip back in time almost five billion years ago, to when a supernova that would eventually turn into the Sun takes place. TV Review: 'The Universe' -- Alien Galaxies

In this episode of The History Channel's The Universe series, telescopes are pointed outside of our solar system to explore and contemplate the absolutely daunting massiveness of the universe.

The show starts off with some basic astronomy lessons, as scientists and researchers discuss just how big the universe is and how big our own Milky Way galaxy is by using some simple comparisons of size that our minds can somewhat get a grasp on. For example, if our Sun was the dot of an "i" in a book, the Milky Way would be the size of the continental United States.
