The ’Once’ Enigma

OnceThe Oscars this year came with record low numbers of viewers. Personally, the Academy Awards are another Super Bowl for me; I wait impatiently for them, prepare for them, see as many of the nominees as humanly possible, and even print out a ballot and make my picks. Surely not many take them that seriously, but if you were one of the few who did watch it, you were treated to one of the true great moments in Oscar history...continue reading this article at Geeks of Doom!

Oscars: 'No Country For Old Men' Wins Best Picture

No Country For Old Men won Best Picture while Joel and Ethan Coen took home awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Directing for the film at tonight's 80th Annual Academy Awards ceremony.

In a mini-sweep, No Country took home four Oscar wins -- Javier Bardem nabbed the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for the film -- while The Bourne Ultimatum (Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Film Editing) came in second with three awards. La Vie en Rose (Best Actress Marion Cotillard, Best Make Up) and There Will Be Blood (Best Actor Daniel Day-Lewis, Best Cinematography) were tied with two wins each. Live Blog: Academy Award Winners 2007

The 80th Annual Academy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC tonight starting at 5pm PT/8pm ET -- check back here OFTEN as we update this post with the list of winners.

If we aren't bored to tears, we'll also do some live blogging of the event as well. Let's see what happens. [UPDATE: Yes, we're live blogging the whole damn night.] So far, the E! Red Carpet pre-show has been cringe-inducing, except for the James McAvoy interview. Seriously, Ryan Seacrest, how is he any better than Joan Rivers? Argh, now that moron just took Amy Adams' tiny handbag, which probably cost thousands of dollars and is on loan from some big-named designer, and is like swinging it in front of the camera to Amy Adams' horror.

This is gonna be a long night...continue reading this article at Geeks of Doom!

Oscar Nominations for 2007

Atonement, Juno, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, and Michael Clayton are this year's Oscar nominations for Best Picture.

No Country for Old Men leads with 8 nominations, with Atonement close behind with 7 nods.

The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC on February 24, 2008 at 5pm PT/8pm ET, though if the writer's strike continues, it's unclear whether actors will be appearing is still to be determined. Actors would not cross the picket line in January to attend the Golden Globes ceremony, forcing to event to be cancelled. Instead, winners were announced during an non-televised press conference.

Full lists of nominees is here after the jump...continue reading this article at Geeks of Doom!
